It's official...

So we have a date and a site where the ceremony and the reception will be. The date is July 11, 2009 at the Woman's Club of Downey. I can't stay away from D-town! Having it there is great because it's an awesome price that includes, caterer, tables, chairs, linens and someone there that day to run the show so I can relax and get married! Now I can relax for a few months until I need to find a dress. I wish I had friends here to go with me on that fun day. I don't think going by myself will be as enjoyable.

Already stressing!

As we learn how much everything will be for our wedding, we're wondering if we can afford to have one at all. I don't foresee my parents wanting to pitch in much at all and his parents will only be able to help so much (my dress and the cake), so basically the rest is up to us. We have 140 on our guest list and that's without people on the B-list. We just won't be able to invite everyone we want to and I'm hoping there are no hurt feelings about it. How do you pick one person over another? I know I still have 16 months but I'm already stressing! You really don't realize how many people you know until you write them all down.

Update...

So we narrowed the wedding date to either July 11th or July 18th, 2009. I hope it's July 11th, so it will be sooner and it would be 7/11. Plus of course we will have it in Cali. Possibly Downey, I guess I can't stay away.
We also found the favors, our officiant, and I've had my dress picked out for about 5 years now, and it still exists. I just wish I had you girls to come with me when I try it on.
I am fortunate to be one of the last of my girlfriends to get married because now I can pick all your brains on all your wedding planning experiences. I'm just warning you all!

I'm engaged!!!

Yes, Robert popped the question last night. Here's how it happened...

I got my hair done so we could celebrate Valentine's Day last night. We knew going out on V-day would be insane. So as I was getting in the car to get my hair done I see heart balloons in the back of the Jeep. That was my first surprise.

Then we headed out to Red Lobster, a first for Robert. Our dinner was awesome, lots of shrimp and lobster, drinks and dessert. I didn't notice that he was nervous, he hid it well. Neither of us ate very much, I filled up on salad, lobster bisque and a delicious drink called Strawberries and Cream. He didn't eat because he was so nervous about his plans for when we got home.

So we got home and he told me to meet him in our room and we'd exchange gifts. I got mine ready and then he came in with a card and some chocolate in a heart shaped box. As I read the card he moved to my left and kind of behind so I couldn't see what he was doing. When I turned around to thank him for the card he was on one knee with the ring! My first reaction was, "What?" He just stared at me so I asked him if he was going to ask me. He did and I obviously said yes and cried a little. It's not the end all be all of engagement rings, when we get closer to the date I will get a better one but I like what he gave me for now. Now I have to get it sized, I wish I could wear it now.
If you're wondering when we will have the big day, in won't be until Summer 2009. We wouldn't have enough time or money to do it this summer.

My roommate just introduced me to the greatest show ever... My Big Redneck Wedding! Lori, you would LOVE this! This is right up our alley. Holy crap. I was hoping there was a video on you tube of this awesome show but you will have to settle for the website so you can witness the videos yourself.

Here's just a taste of the magic of this show... a 30 something paper girl (she has a paper route!) loses her teeth on the big day. But her momma offered to use hers instead, if that ain't love, what is? Luckily she found her teeth in the nick of time. phew! These people are the reason why we say stupid people are breeding.
