dave tickets, demo derby and house stuff
Wow! What a time I had last weekend. On Saturday I checked the mail to find not only my business cards, but also my tickets for the DMB concert!!! I am such a dork and was so excited I of course had to take pictures with them!

On Saturday night we headed out with the areas finest folks to the 2009 Fall Demo Derby! As usual it was a blast! Tony' s boss drives in it and we have been attending the past couple of years. This year we brought along Tony' s parents and our fabulous friends Cody and Kristine.

I have no idea, but I thought I would share with you so you could understand the full extent of my dorkiness.

Sunday it was time to focus on house stuff. I went and found some super cute sconces from Arty Crafty that turned out to be just what I was looking for!

I used food as a lovely bribe so Cody would come over and help Tony rearrange the furniture while Kristine and I gave them orders. I think it is coming together nicely! We got our coffee table and end tables ordered and on the way! Here is a sneak peak at what the arrangement will looks like and pictures of the tables!

This weekend I am going to relax and do as little as possible. I will be gone all week for work so I'm soaking up the home life for now!

life as of late
Where to start? Where to start...
The past week has been pretty eventful. On Saturday night I went to a play with my Grandmother. We went to The Rogers Little Theater to see "The Music Man". It wasn't half bad.

I love going to plays. I will always be a theater geek at heart. I am after all an honor thespian. I have been involved in theater since I took my first acting class in fifth grade (1995). I was instantly hooked! I did theater throughout jr. high and high school. When I started college it seemed like life just got too busy for it. I miss it so! Maybe one day soon I can make a little time for it.
On Sunday Tony and I headed west to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the day. You just have to get out of town every now and then, ya know? We had a lot of fun. I just love spending time with him. You would think after five years that yearning would fade, but it hasn't!

On Monday we got a new addition to the family!! A three month old black lab named Ponca. We already have one dog child named Ozark. I'll try and do a little post on them sometime this week.
Here is a picture of Ponca!!

Anyways, I'm trying to get better about remembering I have a camera that works now. Hopefully, I can start capturing more of my life with photographs. Tonight: A lovely traditional Arkansas date consisting of Hugo's for beer and burgers and the demolition derby!! I'm super excited and that always scares me a little!

best surprise ever!
Have I ever told you I have the best boyfriend in the world? Well, I do and tonight he just earned some more awesome points! There is a certain artist who I have been in love with since I was in fourth grade. You might have heard of him... one Mr. Dave Matthews? I have been dying to see him for as long as I can remember, but have just never had the chance. This September, I will.

Tony met me at the nail salon after my pedicure and we ran to aRby's to get a little bite of dinner before he headed to work. --sidenote: Tony works nights in Wal-Mart ISD-- He had been texting my earlier to see if I knew when I would be traveling in September for work. I told him I didn't know yet and didn't think much more of it. Well when we were at dinner he said, "I have a surprise for you, but I don't want to tell you. but I do want to tell you!" We aren't very good at keeping surprises from eachother and this was no exception. When he told me he had bought the tickets for the Little Rock show I flipped!!!! When I found out last spring that he would be in both Tulsa and Little Rock I asked Tony if we could go to one and he told me the tickets were too expensive. Sneak Sneaky, love!

So, look out Little Rock and get ready DMB! I'ma comin' to see ya!!!

new business cards!!!
I just ordered some new business cards, and am super excited! If you don't already know I have a slight obsession with stationery. Strange, I know. Paper and I began our love affair when I was just a babe. I used to pick up brochures, flyers, junk mail, etc. If it was paper I picked it up. I even used to steal the paper out of the trashcan in my Grandmother's office!!
So, back to my business cards. I ordered them from Paper & Ink Studio through Etsy. (have I mentioned how much I LOVE Etsy? No, well that is a whole post of it's own) I graduated last year with a Bachelors in Interior Design and have been wanting to start some freelance services. So, what better way to get clients than to hand out some swanky cards! Here is a picture of the ones I ordered.

I told you, swanky! I'm still working on starting up everything, but if you know anybody that would like some design services let me know! After all, I have business cards now. That makes me a professional, right?

there is no place like home
Well, we have been in our house for two months now and are starting to make it our home. Tony was so happy when I told him I no longer wanted a "fixer upper". Little did he know we would still spend every weekend working on our house. So far we have painted the bathroom and the living room. I think they are looking pretty good!

I am loving the green!!!! I can't wait to get the graphic painted on the wall!
The living room is pumpkin pie! It was a dangerous decision and a bold choice, but I love it! (excuse the poor lighting ={ )

I know what you are thinking. "This girl has been there for two months and that is what it looks like?" I am having an issue with not wanting everything to be too "Target summer collection 2009" or having that feeling that you just walked in to a certain store. So, I like to say that it is coming along "organically" . It will all get done eventually. I 'm pretty sure we can pull off a housewarming party next year! =}
I'm not sure what this weekend will bring, but I'm sure it will be fun!

a new baby!!!!
Ellia Kate Mitchell has arrived!!!!!!
She was born on May 19, 2009 at 4:04 in the afternoon. She is the sweetest little thing I have ever seen! For those of you who don't know Ellia is the new baby girl of my best friend, Amy Mitchell and her husband Patrick.
Being in the room with Amy and Patrick before she was born was magical! To hear her heartbeat and think that in a few hours she would arrive! Her heartbeat was so fast! She came out with a full head of hair and was this tiny little thing with the longest feet! I am so blessed to be Auntie Julie to such a cute little bird!
**Please excuse the horrible grammar and excessive use of exclamation marks in this post! I am going on very little sleep and cannot express how excited I am about Ellia!!!! (see more marks!)**

5 year anniversay = a house

Sorry for the long delay in posts. It has been such a crazy time! Here is the reader's digest version of my adventures over the past week...
So, Monday was the fifth anniversary of when my boyfriend and I became official! So, the logical present is a house, right? well ok, maybe not but that is what we got!
We have been looking for a house since the end of February and have finally found a match! I am so excited to finally end this search! We will close at the end of this month and that will be it! We will be homeowners! On Wednesday we picked the stain for the hardwood floors, we went with a dark walnut, and the carpet should be in sometime next week. Now I will have a whole new adventure of furnishing and making a house a home.

- my boyfriend and i are going to buy a house!
- i almost lost my dad.
- lost a friend in a BASE jumping accident.
- became a mother! (to my dog-child)
