2 social security numbers?

So I sent in my interim license renewal application plus $60 a few weeks ago and I got it sent back to me today. For a background, CO makes out of state teachers apply for an interim authorization for the first two years they teach, or in my case, sub here. This will be my last year with this particular license in the hopes that I will get hired full time and get an initial license. Anyways, I get my application sent back saying I don't have a license with the Colorado Dept. of Education. I immediately called the number on the notice, and getting angrier by the second, I waited for the next licensing professional. I get a person and give her my social and she tells me I didn't pay. I corrected her and then she found out they had me under 2 different socials. How they managed that, I don't know. But at least they are going to continue processing my application when I send them back my application they returned to me plus a copy of my social security card. I won't even get it until October anyway because they take 3 months to process. I can't sub without the renewed license so I had to apply to work full time at Michael's because my tutoring job gives me 10-15 hours a week (If I'm lucky)and is 20 miles away. Just another setback in the life of your favorite wannabe teacher.

Bad Luck for the Dodgers?

So the last two Dodger games Robert and I have been to, the lost. One was last year on the 4th, Robert's b-day, and the other was last night in Denver. We went with Robert's best friend Cesar (who's been visiting us for the last 2 weeks) and our friends David and Heather. They were playing three games against the Rockies and whooped their butts on Monday so we were looking forward to another butt whoopin' last night. No such luck! After 8 innings of barely a base hit from the Dodgers and general mockings from Rockies fans we decided to leave early and beat traffic. The only run the Dodgers scored was in the ninth, after we left. Coincidence? Probably. I wouldn't like to think we are bad luck for our beloved Dodgers. They lost again today too to the Rockies. We are in 2nd place in the NL West behind the Diamondbacks. At least the Rockies are still in third.

My newest niece!!!

My sister-in-law Christina can now enter the new mommy group along with everyone else I know. Lisa Judith Monfort was born on July 19th at 8:36 a.m. She was 9 days early and came out 15 hours after mommy's water broke. She was 7lbs 10oz and 21 1/4 inches long. I'm so sad I can't be there to see her and hold her in person. All I have are these pictures to sustain me until I can see her at Christmas.

Here is a picture of mommy and daddy for a comparison. I think she looks like both of them, but I definitely see her mama's nose and cheeks.

The Dark Knight

So tonight I was talking to my boss in our little spare room near the front door when I look up and see something hairy and brown stuck to the wall, near the ceiling. I knew it was something alive so I said... "Honey? There's something on the ceiling." Robert ventured that it was a bat! Yes, a BAT in our freakin' house. How it got in we don't know but we knew it had to leave. It was a little bat, closed up it was the size of the palm of your hand. of course I had to get a picture but I didn't want to get too close or show the flash so that's why it's blurry. Robert got a bowl and a little cutting board and scooped him in and boy was he angry! He was trying to fly around inside the bowl and he was hissing and showing his fangs. Robert let him out, too bad it's still sunny outside. I feel kind of bad but I'm sure he found darkness somewhere.

Engagement Photo Outtakes

When we took our engagement photos a few weeks ago, not every picture was wedding and/or wall worthy, these are the pictures that didn't make the cut. Some of them are kind of funny, too.

The Black Star Spangled Banner?

So, you may have already heard but I was so annoyed by this that I had to share. A woman named Rene Marie was asked to sing the Star Spangled Banner for Mayor John Hickenlooper in Denver for his State of the City address and she sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing" instead, which is sometimes called the The Black National Anthem. By the way there is also a Spanish National Anthem as well. I know our country was founded on everyone being equal and free to say whatever they want but where is the sense of history? First it's the National Anthem, a poem written almost 200 years ago for all of America (not just one segment of the population) and has been our National song since 1931, that is changed , what next? Will we be ok with someone making their own American Flag, the Black American Flag, the Mexican American Flag? When can we say enough, let's uphold some sense of history for the country we get to live in. We are a melting pot, or a salad bowl as some would say, we are all different but living in the same country with the same history. Bottom line, we are AMERICANS! I wish we could just say we are Americans, not African-Americans, not Mexican-Americans, but just Americans. Especially if you were BORN HERE! People complain about how badly they're treated here but they would have a lot less freedoms if they lived in any other country, and they would have learn that language, but that's another rant. Happy 4th of July everyone!!!
