"It's fun to do bad things."

To all my friends who are either new parents or future parents, I thank God for you. Why? Because I know you won't raise your kid in a way that he/she has no conscience or sense of right and wrong. So, my car died this morning so I had to call in to work. We got it started again but I have a commute of about 40 minutes each way and didn't want to risk dying on the way there or after I get off work. Anyway, since I have no car and Robert's at work I am watching the news and saw a story that made me so angry. I think you will get pretty angry too. I tried to find the video they showed on the news but they didn't have it yet. I will look again in a few hours.
This happened in Florida... A 7 year old boy, yes he was 7, decided to steal his grandma's car and take it for a joyride. On the several miles he drove before crashing, he hit two parked cars, two moving cars, a stop sign and finally a curb stopped him in his tracks. So you would think, or at least hope this child would feel remorse for his actions. No, not at all! The reporter asked him why he did it and he said, "I wanted to do it because it's fun, it's fun to do bad things and drive into a car." Then the reporter asked him, if he knew he could have killed someone. This was his response, "Yes, but I wanted to do bad stuff with my friend." When the little boy was asked what his punishment should be, he thought a whole weekend without video games would be a good one. Can you say Grant Theft Auto?

Wedding cake

Hey friends, I need bakeries that you know of for my wedding cake. I need to find one within the next month so if you remember who you used for your wedding in CA, or just have recommendations on anything cake related, let me know.

Phew!

If it wasn't for a quiz I wouldn't be sure. Just kidding!

You Are Ready to Get Married

You've done more than dream about the dress and the honeymoon

In fact, you spend a good deal of your time thinking about what makes a relationship work

And from your answers, it looks like you have the skills to say "I Do" and mean it

You've dated enough, learned your fair share, and you're ready to settle down.

What a b-e-a-utiful day!

So today's forecast was 79 and sunny, and I'm at work not tutoring because my student didn't show up but I have to stay for the next students to come in. I've been wandering aimlessly and trying to do something productive for the last hour. Normally, I wouldn't mind not working and getting paid for it but it's so pretty outside and I have to stay in here. Plus, I would like to enjoy this day because tomorrow we're back to 50's and cold again, plus possible snow. I don't think I'll ever get used to this weather.
On the job front, they keep posting new jobs almost daily and I keep applying for them almost daily and continue to wait for someone, anyone to call me for an interview. A friend revamped my resume, so it rocks now. Just say a prayer for me, I really want a job next year, and I don't want it to be as a part time tutor. I can do so much more than that and I want the opportunity to try!
Oh, and happy tax day! I hope you were all responsible Americans and completed your taxes on time.

Ewoks

Is it weird that I liked The Ewok Adventure from 1984 but never saw Star Wars until a few years ago? And it was only the first one anyway, I never had a desire to see the rest. But I even had a little Ewok stuffed animal back in the day. This video is up because Robert ordered it on Netflix after watching the Star Wars trilogy on Spike. And I needed something that reminded me of my childhood so I don't get so depressed about my adulthood (which includes applying and waiting, applying and waiting.) Enjoy these cute furry guys, except for Rachel, I think they'll remind you too much of monkeys.

The punctuation bandwagon

I LOVE grammar so I'm glad Angelo and Rachel had this quiz on their blogs. Otherwise I would never know that I am...

You Are a Colon

You are very orderly and fact driven.

You aren't concerned much with theories or dreams... only what's true or untrue.

You are brilliant and incredibly learned. Anything you know is well researched.

You like to make lists and sort through things step by step. You aren't subject to whim or emotions.

Your friends see you as a constant source of knowledge and advice.

(But they are a little sick of you being right all of the time!)

You excel in: Leadership positions

You get along best with: The Semi-Colon

While we're on this track, I am also a spelling nerd...

Your Spelling is Perfect

You got 10/10 correct.

Your spelling is excellent. You also have a great memory and eye for detail.

And now for something completely different

My last two posts have been "Debbie Downers" so I thought I'd be random. I was visiting Rachel's blog and she posted the states she's been to, so here's mine. I decided not to cheat and include the states where I had layovers but I did count the states we drove through to get to Colorado.

Blah!

I haven't written for a couple of weeks, if anyone even still reads this. My life has had more downs lately than ups. I always thought I was going to be a teacher, but after being denied for the last few years and now the last few weeks, I'm wondering if I had it all wrong. I thought I had a chance for a log term last week. I called the district an they said there was a long term available. I thought it was a sign that I happen to just call the same day as the principal needed someone and sent out an email about it to them. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. So I gave the lady my number and the actual principal called me back! He asked me about my experience in the classroom, which I have a lot, and asked me to fax him my resume. Another sign I took was after he asked me where I long termed at... DOWNEY, he told me he went to Warren! What are the odds? So I sent him my resume and waited... two days to be exact. I finally get an email from him saying he filled the position. But he'd keep my resume on file for the future. At least he had the courtesy to let me know so I wouldn't still be waiting. I took Linda's advice and wrote him back asking what I can improve on for the next opportunity. He never wrote back. I keep getting told, "it will happen," and "be patient." Well after three and a half years of hoping and being patient, I'm done! I want to do more than work part time as a tutor and teache other teachers' kids. I know this is kind of repeating what my last blog said but the rejections are getting to me. I moved here to get a job and the few chances I've had I somehow screwed up. I'm having flashbacks of Downey and it hurts! I would like to say that I am thankful for Robert, he listens to me cry, he holds me, he consoles me, he tells me that it will happen. I'm glad I have someone that will listen to me even if he doesn't fully understand where I'm coming from. Not many people do understand. Oh, on a sidenote, a district nearby is letting go of 85 teachers in the fall due to budget cuts. I know one teacher who is being let go so if you could pray for all those first and second year teachers who will have to go through all the crap I'm going through soon. Pray we can all find a job in the fall.
