The disappointment that is my life...

If anyone recalls, I applied for a job at a new school opening in the fall about a week and a half ago. The principal called me and asked me to send her my resume and letter of interest. Well, a week or so went by so I decided to call the district office today and see what the time line was for her calling for interviews and whatnot. The guy at HR says, "I believe she already completed her interviews." So I wasn't even considered for an interview?! I have no clue what I'm doing wrong or what I can do to stand out more. This is happening way too often, in Downey and now here. But I applied to another district for 2 positions that are open there, first grade and second grade. I'm trying not to get super discouraged and give up but it's very hard to stay positive. What if all these set backs, going back 3 years now, are a sign that I shouldn't be a teacher?

Our first weekend away...

So since we've moved here we have either been at home or working, for the most part. So when we got Robert's tax refund we decided to go on a little getaway to town in the Rocky Mountains called Estes Park. We only live about 4o minutes away from this cute little place. I took a million pictures driving up the mountain, while listening to songs like Ice Ice Baby and Bust a Move I might add. Here are my favorites...

Yes, that last one is of mountian goats, we had to stop for them because the person in front of us stopped for them. Mind you, they were on the side the whole time.

Then we arrived in Estes Park, CO. Unfortunately we are at the end of winter and the beginning of spring so the attractions weren't open. No mini golf or a tram up the mountain. But the shops were open. Here is the beginning of the town...

A place I really wanted to see was the Stanley Hotel. This is the hotel where Steven King wrote The Shining and where they filmed the movie. The next time we come I want to take the Haunted Tour.

After we got to the hotel we chilled out for a bit, walked around the town, which reminded me a lot of Big Bear, and had dinner. Not very exciting, but very relaxing.

The next day we walked around town a bit more. I got a ring and he got a sweatshirt. We took some pictures at some pretty spots...

Then we decided to head back home. We stopped along the way for some more pictures...

This place was called Sleepy Hollow Dam.

This place's motto was "The best store by a dam site." The site being the tower below where you climb and witness a pretty cool view and some buffalo.

We had an awesome time on our first vacation, even if it was only 2 days. We can't wait to go up there again, and stay a bit longer. Next time, there will be horseback riding, rafting, and hiking involved.
